Sucupira is brown to reddish-brown in colour with subtle yellow parenchyma flecks especially noticeable on plain-sawn surfaces.
Its sapwood is narrow, with a hint of white and that is demarcated where the texture is coarse whilst the grain remains wavy and irregular, occasionally slightly interlocked.
South American in origin Sucupira is coarse in texture whilst very dense and extremely durable, being as dense as it is naturally milled by factories with specialist milling facilities.

Sucupira is predominately Brazilian in origin but also sources from Guyana, its natural reddish-brown golden lustre colour tone is rich in colour with subtle yellow flecks especially that has an interlocked and tight narrow grain.
As a species, Sucupira is also known as Brazilian Chestnut.
